To all of the friends, fans and supporters of the Pyrates Royale,

It is with a certain amount of sadness and a great deal of regret that I have to announce that The Pyrates Royale will not be appearing in this year's edition of First Night Annapolis. We have appreciated greatly the enormous support which we have received over the years from some of the finest audiences that Annapolis has to offer. First Night has certainly been kind to us as well. We have never suffered a negative criticism, but rather, have always felt to be in their good graces. It was this wonderful relationship that led to our deciding to record our third album, Love at First Night, during our 1999 performance. Our six year relationship with First Night has been as rewarding as any band of performers could hope for.

During the past year, I have announced on several occasions that once again we would be appearing at First Night. For this has been my understanding. Those of you who ventured out on the Harbor Queen in July for our third annual Pyrate Cruise to raise funds for First Night will recall this being announced during the show. Many Annapolitans heard us promote First Night on Bill Lusby's Morning Radio Show on WNAV. This meant a great deal to us as we consider Annapolis to be our home port.

Early in November, I was notified by First Night that they would not be working us in this year's budget. That was over a week ago. It has not been my intention to mislead so many faithful listeners and supporters. For this, I humbly apologize to you all. As of the writing of this letter, The Pyrates Royale has yet to be removed from this year's line-up on First Night's website. Why this has not been changed, I do not know.

Of course, this does not change our busy schedule for the upcoming year. We sincerely look forward to seeing you in our upcoming audiences. Check out our website for gigs that will still have us. We hope not to disappoint.

Thank you for all your support,

Brad Howard
